Sorrento House

At Everest Timber we’re big fans of the Controlled Erosion natural stain range by Grimes and Sons. It’s designed to achieve a consistent aged timber look in areas that don’t get a lot of weather like under the eaves and window frames. This month's featured project is Sorrento House, designed by Rachoff Vella Architects and built by Layton Builders.

Blackbutt Feature Timber

Sorrento House is clad in Blackbutt 122 x 19 shiplap, a timber that is both hardwearing to suit the coastal environment and takes the stain particularly well. We supply the cladding with a dried, machine coat of stain, ready for the builder to install. The beauty of a machine coat is that every surface is evenly coated.

Front, back and most importantly through the tongue and groove and end matching. This will reduce the intake and release of moisture, increasing the timbers chances to remain stable. Further coats can then be done on site. We’ve used Controlled Erosion Wharf Grey. It gives the timber a light silvered off look with an ever so slight bluish tinge in the right light. Perfect for the coastal environment in which it resides.
