How much decking do I need?
First you need to work out your square meters. You do this by taking the length and width of your decking and times them by each other.
Say your decking is 6m X 4m = 24m2
To find out how many lineal meters you need, take your square meters and divide it by the width of the decking boards.
If you are using 86 x 19 it would be 0.086 I would then add a 5mm gap between the boards to = 0.091
If you are using 130 x 19 it would be 0.130 I would then add a 5mm gap between the boards to = 0.135
So 24m2 of 86mm would be: 24 divided by 0.091 = 263.74 or 264 LM
And 24m2 of 130mm would be: 24 divided by 0.135 = 177.78 or 178 LM
You would then add 10% to take into account for timber wastage by X it by 1.1
86 x 19 decking covering a deck that is 6m X 4m needs: 264 X 1.1 = 290.40 or 290 LM
I hope this was helpful.
